The Banco de la República Cultural Center in Barranquilla is a place intended to strengthen the cultural heritage of the city and the surrounding region as well as knowledge exchange and discussions on artistic creation on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Here, the public enjoys activities that encourage reading, music, art, literature, and theater, through a program of conferences, exhibitions, guided tours, workshops for children and adults, audiovisual projections, and concerts.

Until July 2016, the cultural center operated at the Amira de la Rosa Theater, inaugurated in 1982 in homage to the writer from Barranquilla. Given the various problems with the building's structure, Banco de la República decided to close it temporarily. At present, some services are provided in a 200 square meter space on the second floor of the Banco de la República offices (Carrera 46 No. 45 – 39, first floor) while others are offered through the Library Network’s extension services. Cultural activities such as concerts, conferences, workshops, and seminars have been hosted in other venues throughout the city by means of inter-institutional partnerships.

An exhibition space was also adapted with all the technical and safety requirements. On February 9, 2017, this space was introduced to the public with the exhibition Apparent Naïvete: Primitive Painters in the Art Collection of Banco de la República (Aparente Ingenuidad: pintores primitivistas en la colección de arte del Banco de la República), which brought together an important sample of artist Noé León’s work. The exhibition also opened during that year’s Carnival of the Arts.
